Mr. Sajjad Muneer Sheikh is a senior Civil Engineer and Business Development specialist with over 50 years of distinguished professional experience in Pakistan, the UK, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. Throughout his career, he has developed an extensive track record in water resources management, hydropower, dams, irrigation, transportation, and infrastructure development, while also contributing to the emerging fields of climate change and carbon markets.
He has worked with Dar Al Handasah, Lebanon, 1976-92 in Africa and the Middle East. He has successfully partnered with leading international consulting and engineering firms, including Scott Wilson (UK/USA), URS Knight Piesold, Aqualogus (Portugal), and PE International, UK, and has provided advisory services for several landmark projects. His portfolio includes 1200 MW Kohalla HPP, 640 MW Azad Pattan HPP, Chakothi Hattain 239 MW, 84.4 MW New Bong HPP. 404MW UCH2 Expansion CCGT. 14 MW Bin Qasim Fuel Conversion Projects, 50 MW Jihmpir Wind Power Karachi Metropolitan Management and Budgeting, and Resource Generation Studies in addition to major infrastructure and urban development programs funded by the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, and DFID (UK).
Mr. Sheikh’s expertise lies not only in technical engineering but also in strategic business development, consortium building, and high-level negotiations. His personal networks with international partners and government agencies have consistently enabled the successful positioning of organizations in complex, multi-partner opportunities.
At AiD, he serves as Executive Director – Water Resources & Infrastructure, where he leads the firm’s expansion into large-scale water resource development, non-traditional engineering sectors, and climate-focused ventures. He plays a pivotal role in providing strategic partnerships, identifying new opportunities, and enhancing AiD’s visibility in both national and international markets.
Beyond his engineering and consulting career, Mr. Sheikh is also recognized for his achievements in sports, having represented Pakistan at the highest international level in squash. His diverse background as both a professional engineer and sportsman reflects his lifelong commitment to excellence, leadership, and discipline.
